Electrical Fire & emergency Access An example year — your dates come from your risk assessment.

Compliance runs in rounds.

PAT testing, fixed-wire testing, emergency lights, fire alarms, extinguishers, ladders and thermal imaging — seven checks, one diary, one number to call.

01 / The round

Five stops,
every visit (no surprises)

The order does not change whether it is one office or forty. Here is exactly what happens between the knock on the door and the paperwork in your file.

  1. Arrive

A slot that suits the site, including evenings and weekends at no extra cost. The engineer arrives uniformed and checks the list with whoever is on site.

  2. Isolate

Before anything is tested, the circuit is isolated and the site is told what is going off — and when it comes back on. No surprises for the people working around you.

  3. Test

Every item on the list is checked: appliances and leads, boards and circuits, lights, alarms, extinguishers or ladders — whichever checks you booked.

  4. Tag

Anything that passes gets a dated tag. Anything that fails is labelled and taken out of use — not quietly left on the shelf for someone else to find.

  5. Certificate

The paperwork follows: results, observations and the next-due dates, ready for your file and for whoever asks to see it.

02 / Services

Seven checks (one round)

Book one, or put all seven on the same visit. The intervals below are the usual ones — your risk assessment and existing certificates set the real dates.

  • PAT testing

Portable and movable appliances — kettles, laptops, extension leads, power tools. Visual check, earth continuity, insulation and function tests, with a dated tag on everything that passes.

    Risk-based · usually annual
  • EICR — fixed wire testing

The fixed installation: distribution boards, circuits, earthing and bonding, inspected and tested to produce an electrical installation condition report.

Up to 5 years · premises dependent
  • Emergency light testing

Fittings, exit signs and escape routes checked on the monthly flick test and the annual duration test, with every result logged.

    Monthly + annual
  • Fire alarm testing

Call points, detectors, sounders and the panel, tested and recorded so the site log stays current and the system stays audible.

    Scheduled test · annual
  • Fire extinguisher inspections

Every extinguisher checked for location, pressure, seal and service date. Discharged, damaged or missing units are flagged in the report.

    Annual inspection
  • Ladder inspections

Ladders, steps and access equipment checked for stiles, rungs, feet and labels, with a record kept for each item.

    Annual inspection
  • Thermal imaging

A thermal survey of boards and equipment to find loose connections and overloaded circuits before they fail.

    Survey · as required

Intervals are the usual statutory ones, not a quote for your site. Ask about yours →
